A little brand with deep roots

AT A GLANCE.

Meljean Roots is a handmade small business creating charming chairs for succulents and selling carefully grown plants at local markets.

The name itself carries meaning: Meljean is a combination of the owner's two children's names, while Roots speaks both to family and to the plants at the heart of the business.

Starting with nothing but a name, I created a visual identity designed to feel as personal, earthy, and handmade as the products themselves.

“The best small businesses have something you can't manufacture: a story, a person, and a reason to care.”

This project reminded me why I love working with small businesses. There's something special about creating a visual identity around something someone has built with their own hands, their own story, and their own reason for starting.

With Meljean Roots, I had the freedom to build from the ground up—and to create something that felt intentional without losing the little bit of magic that makes a small business feel personal.

Good branding doesn’t make a small business look bigger. It makes it feel unmistakably itself.
